Hello world!
Welcome to WordPress […]
Ruen Tubtim was once a floating house in Pasak river.
It was a home of Meechouthon family. The home was well know for
its beautiful architecture especially for the decorative pattern
over the doors and the display cabinets.
Mr.Pluem and Mrs. Tubtim Meechouthon built this
floating house themselves and lived there with 5
descendants
Mrs. Saink Meechouthon
Mr. Saard Meechouthon
Mr. Sanaei Meechouthon
Mr. Sanoh Meechouthon and
Mrs. Sanim Meechouthon.
(Married and her name was changed to Thanimrath Sophonvasu)
Ruen Tubtim had an opportunity to welcome
King Rama VII when, at the time,he was a crown
prince of Thailand.
Mother Thanimrath, the youngest daughter of the family told that
the crown prince had visited “Panead” (Royal elephant kraal) and along
the way he had stopped to visit this floating house and so her mother
(grandma Tubtim) gave the crown prince a golden Buddha statue.
In return, the crown prince gave her a golden brooch with decorative enamel,
on which his name “Prajadhipok” was engraved. Then he sent
all 3 sons of the Meechouthon family to study in Bangkok and then abroad
Mr. Sa-ard Meechouthon in America,
Mr. Sa-nea Meechouthon in Philippines
Mr. Sanoh Meechouthon to serve the king in the palace.
In 1932 King Rama VII abdicated his throne, creating a constitutional
monarch in Thailand and granting the Thai people a constitution.
With the new policy of Thailand Prime minister General P. Pibunsongkram which trying to
modernize the country in 1938, the floating house in the river then had to
be translocated onto dry land and it has been sitting there ever since.
